Legacy Christian Academy's MessagingEQ, anchored by the seven Lega-Cs

The short version. Legacy Christian Academy is a Christ-centered, PreK through 12th grade school that exists to equip the mind and disciple the heart of each student for Christ-like living. Roar built their MessagingEQ: a complete messaging strategy anchored by seven pillars, the Lega-Cs, that moved the school from communicating information to connecting through story.

What a MessagingEQ is. Most schools say true things that still don’t land. The words are accurate, but they are the same words every school uses, so a parent reads them and feels nothing. A MessagingEQ is Roar’s framework for fixing that. It is messaging built with emotional intelligence: we name the handful of promises only your school can make, define the voice you make them in, and get specific about the family you are making them to. The test for every message is whether it is consistent, lived, emotional, authentic, and relevant. Those five make it CLEAR. Get them right and messaging stops informing and starts connecting.

Where they started. We began with a messaging audit, reading more than one hundred pieces of Legacy’s content across fifteen categories, from newsletters to admissions collateral to capital-campaign materials. A pattern showed up quickly: Legacy was telling, not showing. The mission and values were often lifted straight from strategic documents, the language ran cookie-cutter to other Christian schools, and the admissions materials informed without inspiring. The heart of the school was real, the campaign collateral proved it, but it wasn’t reaching families. The one game-changing move was clear: go from messaging that communicates information to messaging that informs with story.

The move. Out of the audit we built Legacy’s MessagingEQ. At its center are the Lega-Cs, seven messaging pillars, each one a C, each one a promise Legacy makes and can uniquely keep:

  • Christ: formed by His Word and sent for His glory
  • Character: learning to lead with humility and boldness
  • Connection: living as a community of belonging and family
  • Collaboration: empowering learners to flourish at school and at home
  • Confident: facing every challenge with courageous confidence
  • Capable: forming next-generation leaders for lifelong learning
  • Calling: finding your calling in Christ and career

Around the pillars we defined the school’s voice and tone, drew a clear portrait of the family Legacy is speaking to, and laid out the next steps that turn a strategy into a system: a StoryBrand narrative with the student as the hero and Legacy as the guide, empathetic statements that name what parents actually feel, image-led admissions collateral, and a predictive content calendar so the right message lands at the right time of year.

What we made:

  • A messaging audit across more than one hundred pieces of content and fifteen categories, framed as Start, Stop, and Accelerate
  • Legacy’s MessagingEQ: the seven Lega-C pillars, each with its own promise and key messages
  • A defined voice and tone, and a portrait of the family Legacy speaks to
  • A roadmap of next steps: a StoryBrand narrative, empathetic statements, image-led admissions collateral, and a predictive content calendar

What happened. Legacy walked away with one shared language: seven pillars the whole team can point to, and a clear path from information to story. The MessagingEQ became the foundation the school builds its communication on, and the springboard for the StoryBrand work that followed.
