Opo Coffee
From a nameless business plan to one of Atlanta's standout coffee brands.
- Brand Strategy
- Brand Identity
- Naming
- Packaging Design
- Fractional Brand Leadership
The short version. In 2020, Opo Coffee came to Roar as a nameless idea and a first-draft business plan. Over the next two and a half years, we served as its fractional brand lead and built it into one of Atlanta’s standout coffee brands, across more than 120 projects.
Where they started. Jonathan Pascual and his team were experts in coffee retail and roasting, but they did not have the internal capacity to build a brand that would stand out in a crowded market. Scaling from a business plan to a full cafe and roastery would take far more than a logo and a name. They needed an ongoing partner who could execute the whole vision, and who understood education, because a premier training lab was central to the concept.
The move. Roar came on as Opo’s fractional brand leader, from strategy to opening day. The name set the tone: “opo” means “yes” with respect in Filipino, and the values of positivity, honor, and respect ran through everything. We studied eighteen competitors to find a palette that would stand apart, built the identity, and kept executing project after project as the concept came to life.
What we made:
- Naming, logo, and the “with respect” brand identity
- A market color study of eighteen Atlanta competitors, and a forty-eight-page investor business plan
- Packaging, drinkware, and menu systems for the cafe and roastery
- Website and e-commerce on WordPress and Shopify
- A fully funded Kickstarter campaign
- Interior creative direction with Rook and Dash Interior Design, training curriculum, and ongoing brand leadership through EOS strategy workshops
What happened. Two and a half years, more than 120 projects, and bi-weekly strategy meetings later, Opo Coffee stands as a recognizable brand in Atlanta’s coffee scene, home to the only specialty coffee training lab in the city, with a full identity, brick-and-mortar branding, and e-commerce all speaking the same language. “ Without a doubt, one of the best decisions we made was to bring on Roar as a branding partner, to help us not only look like an established brand from day one, but to lead us with strategy that has created such a strong brand presence in our city. ”
